For those of you wondering

my job interview lived up to the expectations of my nightmares. It started out great then quickly went down hill from there. The first part of my interview was with the guy who would have been my direct supervisor. He was extremely nice. We talked for quite awhile just discussing my qualifications and the tasks associated with the job. He was pleased with me so he wanted me to meet with his boss. That was a disaster. I was holding back tears almost the entire time. He started out by making me feel like the worst mother in the world for leaving my children when they were so young to go to work. Trust me, I already felt horrible enough about this, but a girl's got to do what a girl's got to do. Things just got worse, if you can imagine that. Nothing I said was right. He just kept saying "anyone can tell me that, I want you to think of something different". So I would basically say the same exact thing just using different words and all of the sudden that was the perfect answer! WHATEVER! I can't really do the story justice without writing an entire book. Let's just say that after explaining what happened to a friend of mine, she said that it sounds like something that would come straight out of an episode from The Office. After thinking about it, I could totally see Michael Scott (the boss on The Office) putting someone through the same crazy nonsense. By saying this, anyone who knows this show can kind of imagine how outrageous my interview must have been. As soon as I got outside I just started bawling. I was so upset, I was sure the guy absolutely hated me. After talking to my friend who works at that place I realized that apparently this guy gets his jollies by making the women in the office cry. She told me that he's made her cry several times and after the first time he said "oh I made you cry, welcome to the family". Can you believe that? Oh well, luckily about 2 hours after I got home Jared FINALLY got the call we've been waiting for telling him he got the job he's been hoping for in Utah. (that's a different story I'll get to later) Thank goodness, I don't have to worry about going on any more job interviews...at least for the time being. By the way, I did get a call back from that employer today. They wanted me to come back in for a second interview. I was shocked. I guess he didn't hate me after all. Sure had a funny way of showing it. Well he can take his job and pollute his pond with it! That probably doesn't make any sense to most of you, but he kept using this analogy that his office was a harmonious pond and he didn't want someone like me to come in and disrupt the pond. Can we say C-R-A-Z-Y?!?!

I'm so NERVOUS!

I've been sending my resume out to several different places and I actually have an interview tomorrow. I am terrified! I have not been on an interview in like 10 years. Shoot, I haven't worked (other than being a mom, that is) in close to 4 years. I've gotten almost every job I've ever had because I've known the manager or the doctor of the office. I have no idea what to expect, I'm freakin' out about what to wear (that is the most important part, right?) and my stomach has been in knots ever since I found out about this interview yesterday morning. I guess the worst that can happen is they don't hire me. Then I guess I'm no worse off than I already am. Unless of course I throw up all over the interviewer's desk, then I'll have a nice dose of humiliation as well. Now I'm just working myself up even more. I suppose I should go calm down and pick out my outfit and figure out the types of things I'm NOT supposed to say. Such as: "Oh I'm sorry sir, they must have called the wrong person to come meet with me. I'm scheduled to interview with a woman named Dana." Luckily I do know someone who works at this place and when I told her I was meeting with a lady named Dana she informed me that Dana is a man. Oops! Good thing we got this cleared up otherwise this little scenario probably would have happened because I'm a big dork. Oh well, we'll see what happens...

Like Daddy, Like Daughter!

Addison shares a great many qualities with her father. Unfortunately she also shares some attributes that aren't quite so becoming of a young lady. Here's an example of what I'm talking about:

See what I mean? I spared you all a picture of Jared's crack. I figured Addison's is cute enough that no one would be offended, but I'm not sure the same goes for Jared. I just love the contrast of her prim & proper feminine side wearing her pink princess heels, yet she's showing her rough & gruff plumber's side as well.

At least she has the good sense to pull her pants up when she feels a breeze. =)

We never used to have this problem you see, but since she's been wearing underwear instead of diapers she has trouble keeping some of her pants up. I guess the diaper gave her the badunkadunk she needed to hold up her pants. Now they just slip right off.

Yep, you read correctly, she wears big girl panties now. She's finally potty trained! Can I get a WOO-HOO? It's been a bumpy road, but we finally got there. It started out nice & easy, she was actually the one who initiated it. But then for some reason she wanted nothing to do with it any more. Then we went through a stage when she would always go poo-poo in the toilet but would still pee in her pull-ups. Not any more, we have been diaper free for 5 whole days now. I'm so excited. I am a little nervous though because I've always heard that it's easier to potty train girls than boys, and if this was easy then I don't even want to think about the troubles we'll have with Urban. =)

p.s. She thinks farts are funny too! (Thanks again to her father. Good thing we have a son he can start imparting all of his wisdom on and leave our daughter alone)

Happy Birthday Mom!

As years go by they seem to do the nicest things for you
And every time you have one more you're twelve months dearer than before
A very Happy Birthday, a very Happy Birthday, a very Happy Birthday
Especially for you!

There's the Estes version of the Birthday song for you (at least I think that's it). Sorry we didn't get to see you today. Addison helped me make you a birthday cake so maybe we can come have some with you at work tomorrow or something. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WE LOVE YOU!

I almost forgot...

I meant to include this in my last post, but I forgot.
Isn't this the absolute cutest thing ever? My sister in law Trecia made it for me for Mother's Day. I love it! I think the saying is just perfect. And she always says she isn't crafty. Thanks again! I think all moms need one of these to display proudly in their home.

Our other family

We had the pleasure of going back to Maricopa for about two and a half weeks to watch our nephews Michael, Hayden, Nathan and niece Jenna while their parents went on vacation. It was a great experience to be a part of Joe & Trecia's family for a little while. We already knew their kids pretty well, but we got to become even closer to them. Let me tell you, they have got three amazing kids. All right, all right, I guess Michael's okay too! Just kidding, he's one awesome teenager, I just like teasing him. =)

We had a lot of fun while we were there. We went swimming, had an American Idol finale party, went to the park, went to the movies, built a fort, played basketball, played video games, did some indoor camping, played in the sand at Grandma's house, trip to McDonald's fun land, did some slippin' & slidin', danced & sang and did a whole lot of goofing around. Jared took the boys on a father/son camp out with the ward and Jenna & I got to spend some quality girl time together. It was really nice because we also got to see a lot of Julie and her boys and visit with Grandma & Grandpa.

Addison had a blast playing around with Jenna & Nathan. They were like her brother and sister, she misses them A LOT! I think she really thinks she is one of Joe & Trecia's kids because she now calls her dad Uncle Jared. =)

Jenna lost two teeth while we were there and Urban completely broke one in and started working on another. So it was a pretty even trade off. We really did enjoy our time with the kids. They are very helpful and loving. I'm not sure the kids want us back any time soon, but we'd definitely be willing to do it again. Just to clarify, you're not asking any time soon right? I kid, I kid! =)

I'm Baaack!

I've been out of the blogging loop for quite a while now, but hopefully I'll get some posts up soon. We were out of town for a few weeks and since we've been back we've been VERY SICK!

I'm sure most of you have noticed my new layout. Isn't it too cute? I love it! Thanks Heather for hooking me up. If you want to take a look at more of her marvelous designs you can check out her website at www.tippytoedesign.blogspot.com.
